The problem: Water appeared on the floor along one wall every time the snow melted, and the owner had been told by two companies that the whole basement needed a drainage system. Nobody had traced where the water actually entered.
What we did: A hose test isolated the entry to two vertical cracks, one of them hairline. Both were injected with low-pressure polyurethane through the full wall thickness, resin appeared at the exterior face on both, confirming the void was gone. Ports removed and the wall ground flush the same afternoon.
The result: Zero water through two subsequent thaws, verified with a moisture meter on both visits. Total spend was a small fraction of the lowest drainage quote the owner had received.

The problem: Sitting on the low ground at the north end of the city, this basement took water from below rather than through the walls, driven by the water table rather than rainfall. It was arriving through the slab and cove joint continuously from February onward, not just during storms.
What we did: Full-perimeter below-slab waterproofing installed in January while the ground outside was frozen solid, one of the reasons interior work matters here. Bedded in washed stone, wrapped in filter fabric, with clean-outs at all four corners.
The result: The basement stayed dry through the thaw that began six weeks later. Moisture readings taken in May came back at 45-49% relative humidity against 71% before the work.

The problem: The owners had lost the basement to spring flooding for eleven years running. Each March the cove joint would weep along two walls, and within a week there was standing water deep enough to float storage bins. A previous contractor had glued a surface channel to the slab, which caught perhaps a third of the water and none of the hydrostatic pressure.
What we did: We removed the failed surface channel and installed a below-slab waterproofing system along the two affected walls, bedded in washed stone at footing level and wrapped in filter fabric. A dimpled wall flange was set behind the stone to capture seepage through the rubble joints, with clean-outs at every corner.
The result: Through the following spring, the heaviest snowmelt in eight years, the basement recorded zero standing water and relative humidity held between 44 and 51%. The owners have since finished the space as a music room.

A kitchen floor the owners had assumed was just an old house, three joists had lost most of their section at the sill.

The problem: Noticeable flex underfoot in the kitchen and a door that had stopped latching. A screwdriver went into three joist ends without resistance where they bore on a damp sill plate, and the girder line had dropped where two piers had settled into soft ground.
What we did: Steel adjustable piers were set on new footings and the span lifted gradually over two days rather than jacked in one go. Three joists were sistered with pressure-treated members and the failed section of sill plate replaced. Sodden batt insulation was stripped out and disposed of.
The result: Floor deflection went from 11 mm to under 2 mm across the span. The door latches again, and the crawl was left clean and sound, the owners had it encapsulated the following month.

The problem: During the thaw, water did not seep through the uphill wall, it sprayed, through one vertical crack. Separately, the crawl space under the rear extension sat at 74% humidity with visible growth on the joists.
What we did: Structural epoxy injection sealed the crack full-depth, confirmed by resin at the exterior face. The crawl space was cleaned out, treated, sealed with a 20-mil vapor barrier and put on a dehumidifier, both jobs scheduled in a single mobilization.
The result: Inflow at the wall dropped to zero and has stayed there through two thaw cycles. Crawl humidity holds at 48%, and the owners report the rear rooms no longer smell damp, which is the stack effect working in the other direction.

The problem: The owners called about a musty smell in the bedrooms. The source was underneath: bare soil, collapsed batt insulation lying in the dirt, 78% relative humidity and visible growth across the floor joists. The stack effect carried it straight upstairs.
What we did: Full clean-out and disposal, antimicrobial treatment of the joists, a 20-mil reinforced liner sealed to walls and piers, rim-joist air sealing and insulation, and a dedicated dehumidifier draining away automatically.
The result: Humidity now holds at 47%. The odor is gone, ground-floor rooms measured 4-6°F warmer through a Syracuse winter, and the owners reported a clear drop in their heating bill.
